for those of you who dunno what "mod" is... it's short form for "modify".

yes, i gonna modify my new phone.

it all started with a nbtd (nothing better to do) and a lazy afternoon in the office yesterday. while i was searching around looking for some new clothes (known as skin, which will change the layout of the screen appearance) for the phone, i found that there are actually lots of skins available online.

one thing leaded to another, i found out there is actually people modding their phones. and the hardcore modders have a forum too!

i ended up reading hundred of messages on
http://www.motomodders.net.
actually, all i wanted was to remove those stock ringtones, lousy images, stupid video that came with the phone. so i downloaded lots of utilities from the website and looked forward to try them out at home. (didn't bring the data cable to office mah...)

tried on my XP machine at home... problem with detecting the damn phone. so i switched back to my win2k (luckily i still keep my win2k) and connected with breeze.

managed to erase a few big mp3 tones and a stupid video. changed my startup screen as well. it's cool... except... i can't choose my own tones anymore because the data file still thought there were many tones in the phone.

a quick search on the net revealed that as the smallest issue. i just needed to remove the stupid data file and the phone would recreate that by itself.

didn't bother with it as it was late nite already, and gf was sick. i went on and take care of her...

this morning, i packed my data cable with me, susu told me about a topic on flashing my cheap moto e398 firmware into the new, not yet released on market, wonderful
e790 which has built in video recording, voice recording, i-tunes (like ipod) and some other nifty features.
i must say i am tempting... VERY...

where else can you find a rm700 phone with all that features? except only one thing... my phone is less than a month old, and it may void the warranty if i do that...

anyway, i've read thru lots of issues on the net... most experience people said as long as i backup everything properly, i can always revert back to the original settings.

so... that's like a confidence injection booster for me.

at this point, i am backing up the firmware as i type... wish me luck!
i have not been this excited about any gadget for a long long time (maybe old already) since i first overclocked my PC...
